Earth Day Cleanup April 18, 2009

Keep the Mingo Creek Clean

On Saturday, April 18th, the Friends of Mingo Creek will be out in force cleaning up the creek and streets that spill storm water run off into the river as part of the great PA Clean up. We will join hundreds of other volunteers cleaning up Pennsylvania's hundreds of stream miles.

We all want to live, play, work in a healthy environment. For that to happen, it is up to individuals to get involved. Families, groups, schools and youth groups, conservation organizations, any one with a willing heart can be part of the Great American Clean up.

FMC will be meeting at 8 AM along Lewis Road near Yeager (under Route 422.) Volunteers will receive a short assignment along with trash bags and instructions. If you can't join us, plan your own clean up. Resolve to walk around your neighborhood during the next few weeks. You'll be amazed what a difference you can make and it's a chance to help clean up our town and get some fresh air and exercise too.

We ask that you pay special attention to the natural areas where plastic has collected during windy weather along streams, inlets and ponds. Please help, you will be surprised how good you will feel. Check out http://www.gacofpa.org/
